I Corinthians 13:13 (NKJV) – And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
Faith is essential in this life; but, faith will one day no longer be required, as we will finally see God; this hope, the expectation of receiving a crown of life, will be realized, us basking in the joy that only heaven could provide. And, all that will remain is for us to practice the love that was perfected here in this life, on many dark and gloomy days where we needed assurance of something better. We often fail for not fully appreciating the power of love, reducing it to a whimsical ideal relating to selfish want rather than spiritual need or an often misapplied term, carrying with it empty promises. No, love is the strongest, perhaps most essential thing we can ever possess. Love is the greatest. It is the proof of our faith and hope, in how we treat both ourself and others.
