John 15:14 – Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.
Meditation – A chief danger of this life lies in the belief that we ourselves can define the terms of discipleship. In this, many want Christianity without Christ; salvation without sacrifice; praise without persecution. We want Jesus to be our friend; but, only on our terms. We want glory; yet, none of the suffering. But, we cannot separate Christ from His Church. He already has rules; He’s already developed a standard. It is our duty to follow Him. Satan wants us to believe that being religious is the same as being righteous. It isn’t. Being a christian isn’t just about going to worship and saying our prayers. Yes, This friendship with The Lord comes with privileges; but, this isn’t friends with benefits. It’s a committed relationship. Therefore, We must have an honest discussion with ourselves concerning The Lord. Either He is going to be our everything or we decide that He can’t be our anything. He didn’t die for the church we’ve made up in our heads; He died for His. His is better.
