Luke 6:36-37 – Be ye therefore merciful, as your father also is merciful. Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven.
It’s interesting how, in an effort to grow as disciples, we will work to apply these biblical principles to our life as it relates to everyone but ourselves. As much as we attempt not to judge or condemn others, we often instead beat our own selves up. But, in desiring to grow, we have to realize that forgiveness of others cannot trump forgiveness of self; that, we will never fully grasp the concept of mercy until we are able to apply it to our own heart, growth in the lord requires us to understand that, to esteem others better than ourselves doesn’t mean that we treat ourselves worse than others. It’s a process; be kind to yourself.
